About

I teach XC skiing to encourage forest recreation in winter spring and fall. I've had my writing published about skiing and hiking since the mid 1970s, and in 2008 published SKI TRAILS AND WILDLIFE: Toward Snow Country Restoration, a book dedicated to preventing ski wars such as Mineral King, Kirkwood, Early Winters and Jumbo Wild.   My favorite run is Jack's Trail, named for Jack Wilson who introduced such notables as Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas to the North Cascades, introduced the Aspen Ski Corporation to Sandy Butte above Early Winters, and helped locate the North Cascade Highway.
