About

Skiing is all about freedom and independence. When I was discovering skiing as my passion I spent my time exploring the mountain, trying new things, looking for adventure, testing my limits, getting myself into jams and figuring out how to get out of them. I model my teaching philosophy off of my belief in the need for you or your child to DISCOVER the sport of skiing instead of being shown or told about it. Now this does not mean that I don't teach or guide during my lessons. I believe in fostering the skills and environment needed to generate a safe and fulfilling, yet exciting and exploratory experience on the mountain. I want you or your child to guide the day based on your own goals and interests, to make terrain and trail decisions based on curiosity and self motivation, and develop skills by trial and error. I want to empower you and your child to take ownership of your learning experience. I plan to be your coach, guide, leader, friend, mentor, teammate, follower, and adventure companion at varying moments throughout the day depending on the situation we find ourselves in. This strategy is only effective when the group is small enough that you or your child's voice and opinions are heard and are important to the decision making process. That's why I prefer to teach in smaller classes, or better yet, a private one on one or family lesson. Whether its you or your child's first time on skis or your 100th, you can always get better. I learn something new everyday on the mountain. I'd love to spend the day hitting the slopes with you and your kids and help you reach your skiing goals. I can also give lessons at almost every other Colorado resort given over a week of notice if another mountain is more convenient. You can also see some of the types of skiing adventures you and your child could be having with me at instagram.com/skiwithbeach

Alex was the first glimpse of skiing my 8 year old had, with three group lessons this December, and now she is hooked! She not only grew leaps and bounds in her skills, she grew to love the sport. She ended every day asking to go again and she was beyond thrilled to know Alex would continue to be her teacher week after week. Alex was able to teach her the basics and beyond while keeping the day fun and exciting. I had no reservations leaving my daughter with him, knowing she would have a blast and be well looked after. It was honestly the best introduction any family could ask for, and I give all the credit to Alex!

Alex designed a lesson geared towards my needs and goals. He was personable and made me excited to work on new skills, push myself to try harder terrain and to keep learning. I would definitely recommend Alex to any level skiier.
