About

Hi I'm Skiin' Ian,
I am British/American and I learned to ski in France when I was 19. I have been teaching skiing since 1995. I speak English, French and some American!

IF YOU :

  • just got new skis and need to figure them out
  • seem to have reached a plateau and would like to have that break through
  • are fearful of the idea of sliding around on a slippery surface with a couple of sticks strapped to your feet
  • are perhaps not so young and wonder if this is right for you
  • have not skied in a while and need a refresher
  • are going out west or abroad and need to take your own personal ski instructor
  • don't ski but need a professional apres ski partner

THEN I AM THE PERFECT INSTRUCTOR FOR YOU.

SAFETY and FUN are my top priorities. I love to teach groups as much as I do one to one, the time spent together on the hill is always geared towards your goals and I guarantee you will walk away patting yourself on the back.

l believe that everyone can improve every time they go out.

If you book me for a 2 hour private I will endeavor to take video of you at the beginning and end of the lesson and review and email it to you at the end of the day (weather permitting).

If you are looking for great snowboarding instruction at Mount Snow, I can recommend:
Mike Ma
Morgan Bitton

If you're not skiing on the edge then you're taking up too much room!

Ian was knowledgeable, observant, and an excellent communicator during my recent visit to Mount Snow. Using the techniques gleaned from our lesson, I was able to ski nearly the entire mountain the following day, something which I would not have done before. I would enthusiastically recommend Ian to any skier looking to improve their skills and gain confidence on the mountain

Ian, Not sure if you remember my son Lucas, but he skied with you this past Martin Luther King weekend. He was barely able to go down the bunny slope, but you got him started on the right track and most importantly enjoying skiing!! Well, we just got back from Aspen and he is now a 3 or 4 level and doing great! Attached is a video . He loves it and can't wait to get back out there! Looking forward to seeing you next year!

Ian was very patient with my apprehension and coached me through my initial fear. He offered solid advice and has definitely made me want to go out and get better. I will try to get a lesson with him again in the next couple of weeks.

Ian is an excellent instructor who takes the time to identify a skier's weeknesses and provides actionable advise for improvement. Highly recommended.

For some reason I was feeling a little unstable with my skiing, perhaps because of the icy conditions and getting a little older! I took a lesson with Ian to brush up and it was fabulous. I will definitely plan on further lessons when I go back to that area. He listens to you, watches you and gets what you need. He then tries to give you as many tips to advance you as much as possible. I have taken many lessons over the years and the lesson with Ian tops the list in quality and also in fun!

I am a Professional Skier with the National Ski Patrol. I work for Bromley Ski Resort in Vermont. I am also a member of PSIA and have been for over 25 years. It is always good to have another good skier watch you and make a few points as to critical things of which they see that you may be able to improve on. It is another thing to have a perfectionist watch you while skiing. Ian is one of the most perfected ski teaches I have ever skied with. Ian and I skied together for a full week at Telluride, Colorado. While skiing some of Telluride's most challenging terrain, Ian was able to fine tune some of the turns I was making that no one else had ever commented to me about. The best part was that when I tried what he had asked me to do, they really worked on improving my skiing, especially on the very challenging tree and mogul runs. I am sure Ian is a wonderful ski instructor to teach you how to ski from day one, however if you are a very accomplished skier and wish to improve and perfect skiing at that high a level, consider giving Ian a call and having him teach you a few lessons of which you will be glad you did.

Ian took the time to really show me how to better utilize my poles. It seems like a small thing, but the way in which he explained the concept was so clear and easy to follow that it made a huge difference with my form. I'll definitely be coming to Ian again to help me with other aspects of my skiing!!!

My 5 year son took a lesson with Ian and loved it. We definitely saw immediate improvement in his skiing. Ian also took the time to write us an in depth summary of the lesson and what we should work on/avoid in his skiing.....Very helpful.

Ian is a true teacher and coach, excellent at understanding the abilities and needs of each of my family of 4 in our first lesson ever, and able to bring each of us to our next level. Perfect combination of instruction and practice, and the instruction is largely visual concepts we all found incredibly helpful. We were lucky enough to send our kids off with him again this year, and they had a wonderful time, remembered important concepts to keep working on, and clearly advanced in skill. We loved the progress reports he emailed to us, and look forward to next time! Thanks Ian!
